Julian entered Journalism in 1989 to become Managing Editor of Telecommunications International. He subsequently spent two years as Editorial Director with the Telecoms publishing division of the Financial Times, where his editorial responsibilities encompassed a range of newsletters, magazines and market reports. Julian has been responsible for launching a number of successful magazines and telecoms publications including Telecoms World and Billing International for the FT, and CI Mobile (formerly Roam), Before journalism, Julian spent eight years with a major telecoms company working mainly on projects for BT.
Kris Szaniawski, Analyst

Kris is a Principal Analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media’s Industry Research division.

He is responsible for the research programmes and analyst team tracking the mobile networks and infrastructure topic areas. Kris’s areas of expertise include network vendor strategy and managed services although he tracks and comments on a broad range of topics in the mobile space ranging from mobile broadband to support systems. Recent research has included Networks Intelligence Centre comment, analysis and case studies.

Kris has 16 years experience in the telecoms sector as a journalist and analyst. He has worked on a wide range of advisory services, reports and consulting projects and contributed to numerous industry publications. He regularly conducts briefing sessions with operator and vendors and chairs and moderates international conferences.

Mike Roberts, Analyst
Mike Roberts is lead author of Future Mobile Broadband: Revenue Opportunities for HSPA to LTE, EV-DO to UMB & WiMAX and a Principal Analyst at Informa Telecoms & Media. His research areas include mobile broadband, WiMAX, Wi-Fi, wireless VoIP, fixed-mobile convergence and IP Multimedia Subsystem. His primary outputs are reports, including WiMAX Broadband Convergence: Emerging Fixed, Portable & Mobile Revenue Opportunities and Municipal Wireless Broadband. Mike has been tracking emerging mobile, wireless and fixed markets since 2000, when he started contributing to Informa research services such as 3G Wireless Broadband and Telecom Markets. He regularly presents and chairs at key industry events and provides comments on mobile broadband, convergence and other topics to the press.
Elson Sutanto, Analyst

Elson is a Research Analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media’s Industry Research division. In his role Elson specifically covers the mobile and fixed-line growth of Eastern European markets, in particular the Baltic and Balkan regions.

Elson also has a strong interest in tracking global WiMAX deployments, license awards and developments. Elson regularly writes country profiles for Informa’s Mobile Communications Europe publication, analyzing the progression of various central and eastern European mobile markets. He also regularly contributes towards other Informa publications such as Global Mobile and 3G Wireless Broadband. Last, Elson compiles various financial and operational statistical data of the world’s largest major mobile operating groups, including Deutsche Telekom, Telekom Austria and Telenor for Informa’s World Cellular Benchmarking product.

Elson holds a BSc in Economics from Brunel University and an MSc in Management from Royal Holloway University.
