The Association of Commercial Television in Europe, ACT, was formed in July
1989. Our object is to represent the business interests of the commercial
television sector at the EU Institutions.
Our 28 member companies are active in 28 European countries and encompass
several business models, operating over 270 free-to-air and pay-TV channels
and distributing 540 channels and 170 new services.
Membership of the ACT is open to any private television broadcasting company
in Europe that approves the ACT's statutes of association. To see the core
principles of the ACT, agreed by our CEOs in 2002, visit www.acte.be/usermodule/en/act.asp.
Czech Association of Competitive Communications (CACC)
associates providers of electronic communications networks and providers
of broadband services. It was established in 1998 under the name Czech Association
of Cable Communications. In December 2001 the Board of Directors decided
to change the name to Czech Association of Competitive Communications, in
order to reflect reaching final stages of the CACC transformation process
that aimed at becoming a strong, modern, pro-European and respected association
of electronic communication networks and broadband services.
Our key aim is to represent and protect the interests of competitive elcom
companies and to play a signal role in the Czech elcom sector, focusing
on the creation of open and competitive electronic communications market
in the Czech Republic. We want to be a united voice of the industry and
contribute to the creation of liberalised environment free from unnecessary
regulation and political influence.

The SCTE (Society of Cable Telecommunication Engineers)
is a group of Engineers, Technicians, Installers and like-minded people
involved in Broadband Telecommunications who like to share their technical
expertise with others to improve the general standing of the industry and
those involved in it. We do this by holding lecture meetings in the UK and
Benelux, producing a quarterly technical journal "Broadband" , providing
training courses, taking part in Standards activities and not least arranging
social events where members can network. The SCTE, founded in 1945, is not
a trade organisation but constituted as a 'Learned Society'; which really
means that we are working directly for the benefit of our individual members,
not primarily for MSOs and Technology Providers. Nonetheless we have many
supporters (Patrons) from these areas who see the overall benefit to the
industry of such a Society.
